The Isle of Coll is located off the West Coast of Scotland, in the Inner Hebrides. The Isle of Coll is a rugged and beautiful island that benefits from an abundance of spectacular beaches and varied flora and fauna. Due to the low population of around two hundred residents, there is little pressure on the local environment. As a result visitors benefit from truly being able to escape. Empty beaches, lack of traffic and clean air are just some of the attractions.

It is possible to be completely self sufficient in Hill Cottage Coll and the surrounding area, however it is still possible to immerse yourself in the local community – one that is very welcoming of visitors to the island. The lively pub is a great place to meet locals, while An Cridhe Community Centre is a hub for the community, including wet weather activities for the kids. There are a number of events on the island during the year which visitors regularly participate in. New Year’s Day shinty match, two fishing competitions, half marathon, agricultural and horticultural show and numerous concerts and ceilidhs, are all there for you to enjoy. The main village on the island, Arinagour, is a traditional West Coast village with a couple of convenience stores, cafe, pub, restaurant and filling station. There is also a church with regular Sunday services, a craft shop, Post Office, gallery and delicatessen.
